Caps are among the most common yet fashionable accessories owned by every person. There has been a lot of innovation regarding the style and designs of the caps.
One such iconic cap is the baseball cap which is popular among people of all age groups. But what people don't know is the process that goes behind this stylish and comfortable baseball cap manufacturing. Hence, this article will focus on the manufacturing process of the baseball cap.
VARIOUS COMPONENTS OF THE BASEBALL CAP
Before diving deep into the process of manufacturing, it is crucial to know about the components of a baseball cap. Six triangular fabrics are sewn together to make the crown or the dome part of the cap. The Visor is an important component that helps in providing protection from the sun and comes in different shapes and sizes.
A fabric holds the panels of the cap firmly and is known as the top button of the cap. The back piece of the baseball cap is used to adjust the size of the cap and comes with different kinds of buckles. This is called the Closure.
THE PROCESS
1.Cutting Of Fabric:- The initial step of the manufacturing process involves cutting the fabric for the cap in uniform shapes and sizes. Hydraulic machines are used to cut the panels uniformly as the panels and visors are to be cut in the same size.
2.Crown and Visor Stitching:- The crowns and visors are stitched at the same time and are attached together in the final process. The SNLS machine is used to stitch the front panels of the cap. The Cap manufacturers make sure to add a second layer of fusion fabric to the end of the front panel in order to provide an elevated shape.
3.Attachment of Tapes and Eyelets:- The front panels are embroidered with catchy logos of brands, after which the eyelet machines stitch the edges of the cap by piercing them to allow air circulation. After stitching all the panels together, the seams are covered with fabric tapes to avoid exposed edges.
4.Making The Visor:- Visor is made by stitching two fabric panels like a pocket and turning the fabric inside out. To ensure the long-lasting shape of the visor, parallel stitches are applied to the hem. Then the crown and Visor are stitched together. A sweatband is also attached to the base of the crown, which helps to add labels.
5.Steaming of the Baseball Cap:- After adding buttons and closure to the design, a blocking machine is used to steam the cap to retain its shape. This prepares the caps for rough use, and they won't lose their shape even after continuous use.
